We began our journey in 1992 as a tea and black pepper plantation and ventured into dairy production in 1993. We specialise in raising our champion goats. Lak Lady farms occupy a land area of 120 acres with a staff of 32. We are located in Panvillatenna, a picturesque village in the Kandy district in Sri Lanka. The elevation is 830m from sea level and the average temperature hovers around 24°C, with an average annual rainfall of 2500mm. The farm is surrounded by a mountain range causing the average humidity to constantly hover around 70%. These conditions make it ideal for rearing goats.

Just like every other dairy farm in the industry, we also had our humble beginnings where we harvested raw milk from our farmed goats, then the stock of harvested milk was sold to a processing company who processed these into different final dairy products to cater the market. At a certain point it was very evident that, the prices paid for the supply of fresh milk and other raw dairy products were hitting rock bottom and this pushed farmers like us to the extreme limit. And the other concern we had was the fact that we did not have the visibility as to how our milk was been processed and what was the quality of the final product when it reached the final consumer.
After careful thought and consideration, it was decided by the management that it is necessary for us to establish our own processing facility at the vicinity of the farm itself. This ensures that we have complete control over the process from the very beginning to the end of the supply chain.
This transformation has enabled us to go from plain raw milk to a packaged consumable in less than 12 hours. We are proud to say that we are the only dairy farm in Sri Lanka who can produce and process dairy products so swiftly and, also we embrace the fact that we can always keep track how our prized product is transformed along different processing stages.
Goat milk supplies more Vitamin A compares to cow milk. The Vitamin A in goat milk is not in the form of beta-carotene as it is for cow milk. This different form of Vitamin A is what makes goat milk whiter in colour than cow milk.
